Won't appear in the series finale of Angel, the spin-off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, in which she played the title role. The show's executive producer didn't invite Gellar because he did not want the finale revolving around a guest star. (March 26, 2004)
Has staked out the lead role in THE GRUDGE, an English-language remake of the Japanese horror flick JU-ON. (December 16, 2003)
Has been slammed by her former BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER co-star Alyson Hannigan for failing to tell cast members she was quitting the show. (May 14, 2003)

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. have made up for their post-wedding problems by going on a second honeymoon ? the couple had their first few days as man and wife thwarted when bad weather hit the area they were staying in and Gellar suffered a stomach bug; they made up for it with a romantic 11-day getaway to the ritzy Four Seasons Resort on the idyllic Hawaiian island of Maui starting Christmas Day. Gellar had auditioned first for the role of Buffy, but the producers thought she was better suited to play Cordelia. She continued to pursue the role of Buffy and ultimately won it. In February 2003, after six seasons helming the acclaimed series, Gellar announced that she will be leaving the show to pursue a film career. In 1999, Gellar signed a contract with Maybelline to become the company's first celebrity spokeswoman since Linda Carter in the late '70s.
